Random Thoughts

I really just want to write something today, but since I cannot seem to decide on what to write, I will just post some great scripture.

Philippians 4:6-7

Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs and don't forget to thank him for his answers. If you do this you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus.

1 John 5:14-15

And we are sure of this, that he will listen to us whenever we ask him for anything in line with his will. And if we really know he is listening when we talk to him and make our requests, then we can be sure that he will answer us.

Grace and Peace to you -

With Love,

Nails In The Fence

Thanks Dawn! :)

Make sure you read all the way down to the last sentence. (Most importantly the last sentence) There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His Father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence He said, "You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won't matter how many times you say I'm sorry, the wound is still there. " A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one. Friends are very rare jewels, indeed. They make you smile and encourage you to succeed. They lend an ear, they share words of praise and they always want to open their hearts to us." Show your friends how much you care.

Friendship

This evening I got to thinking about "friends". 1. What makes a person a friend, 2. Why we need friends, and 3. How to keep our friendships healthy. I am not an authority on friendships; however, I can answer these questions from my own perspective. First, "What makes a person a friend"? I believe that you have to start with basics. I think we all have been in a situation where we have to start from the begining. A common saying is "To have a friend, you must be a friend". I think that is pretty good advise. It puts a person in the frame of mind that they need to reach out and show someone they care. However; what if the person you reach out to shows themselves as unavailable. I think the human thing is to become defensive, but maybe the fact that they are unavailable says more about them, than you. There are numberous things out there that people are trying to accomplish in life; from the mandane to complex, and I think it means that maybe they are not in a position to be a friend. Therefore at that crossroads; look for someone that has said "hello" to you. :)
My second question is "Why do we need friends"? Frist, I don't think it's a mystery that we all need companionship in forms of friends. Even at the begining God recognized this by saying in Genisis 2:18 The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him." and again in Exodus 18:18 "You and these people who come to you will only wear yourselves out. The work is too heavy for you; you cannot handle it alone". There is a particularly good passage in Job. Job 2:11-13 Three of Job's friends heard of all the trouble that had fallen on him. Each traveled from his own country—Eliphaz from Teman, Bildad from Shuhah, Zophar from Naamath—and went together to Job to keep him company and comfort him. When they first caught sight of him, they couldn't believe what they saw—they hardly recognized him! They cried out in lament, ripped their robes, and dumped dirt on their heads as a sign of their grief. Then they sat with him on the ground. Seven days and nights they sat there without saying a word. They could see how rotten he felt, how deeply he was suffering. After reading this passage I would say that Job had 3 great friends!
My third and final question is "How to keep friendships healthy"? That's a big question and I believe that you truely have to seek God's authority if there is a question in your mind, or heart. Use common sense and don't be scared to talk about your concerns with God and your friend(s). And if it's truely a problem, seek wise counsel. Look to your local church for help.
In conclusion I found a cute site to share. Here is a link...

It's A New Day!

I am up early enough to see the sun rise this morning. Rarely, a willing event, but today I am w-i-d-e awake and ready! As I was fixing breakfast this morning I realized that the last time I remember seeing the sun rise was about 19 years ago! My cousin and I had gotten up around 5am climbed up a butte in Eastern Washington and watched. She was from Denmark, so everything in the United States was either a new experience, or brought a new meaning for her. So, today I took a picture. I am going to make a point not to wait another 19 years!

Today, I learned more about sustaining faith in God during the tough stuff life deals out. Wow - what a great message!!! What do you do when life throws a "curve ball"? Well, for me being a part of my local church has been the best thing! It has become part of a solid foundation for me to make good decisions. Here is a great scripture reference from the message I heard today in church... Ephesians 2:8 which states -
"Now God has us where he wants us, with all the time in this world and the next to shower grace and kindness upon us in Christ Jesus. Saving is all his idea, and all his work. All we do is trust him enough to let him do it. It's God's gift from start to finish! We don't play the major role. If we did, we'd probably go around bragging that we done the whole thing! No, we neither make or save ourselves. God does both the making and saving. He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join him in the work he does, the good work he has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing".
That just says it all! Thanks to God for that word and to my Pastors for helping me find it!

Where To Turn ...

There are days I wake up and wonder where do I turn? The house has become a scene from the 2003 remake of "Cheaper by the Dozen", except in real life kids playing hockey in the house is not as funny as it was when Steve Martin's Character Tom Baker explained to his new neighbor "Well, if it gets larger than 3 on 3, they have to take it outside"! Yeah - Umm, No! :) It's in those moments, I gather up my favorite Scripture "reference" book, and bible and go into the bedroom kneel on my knees asking God to help me have the patients to deal. This week has been one of those weeks, however; I found some awesome scripture that I wrote down and plan on hanging up on my bathroom mirror. It's from Ephesians 3:16-20 and another that I found yesterday Psalm 3. Wow~! So, I was inspired today to create this blog to be one where parents/teachers/and any who are around children could connect to me and possibly others, because God knows we need to be connected! Weather you are married, or single we are all in this together! Let's teach our children in the way they should go, so they will not depart from it. Grace and Peace to you!
