Good Morning!

I wanted to update my blog early this morning. I ran accross this pamphlet while at my son's kindergarden orientation. It's a marathon for kid's. Check it out.... http://www.seattlemarathon.org/kids.asp I was thinking of enrolling our two boys in it. It's for ages K-8 to participate in a Marathon, Read and Do right deeds. I thought it was a really positive idea! It is sponsored by The University of Washington Medical Center.

Other than that, I was reminded of this cool bible software site ... http://www.e-sword.net/ . You can download some great resources for studiing the Bible.

Anyway, I am whisteling while I work. Thought I would Alphabetize my VHS movie's and then move upstairs to Alphabetize my DVD's. I have become "intentional" about organization and living clutter free. Wish me luck - It's a work in progress!

Schedule Change...

My 8 year old son came to me with this joke today and I had to share it....

Q: What has 6 eyes, but cannot see?
A: 3 Blind Mice

Anyway, yesterday I started my new job as an assistant/intern at a Private school in Bellevue. Commuting from Lake Stevens I leave about an hour and 10 minutes prior to my shift to insure I arrive on time. So far so good! I've needed that extra time ( about 20 minutes ) to make up for missing exits and turning left instead of right. Although, I've lived on the eastside before, I forget, and I get the directions of left and right mixed up a lot! Unless of course, I look at my arms. It's all good though. God, gave me arms for a reason- visual ques!
Anyway, as I trekked down HWY 9 and 405 I grabbed an old CD. TRC's Reveal CD and listened faithfully. Jamming to my favorites, and unexpectedly encountering God on my commute. Today I did the same. Heck I have about 2-2.5 hours in the car round trip! I decided to add something. I had 2 teaching CD's from my church in the car today. One was about "living intentionally" and the other was about "living with direction". Wow! Granted I am now familiar with which worship songs to listen to during certain times of my commute, but that's another story...:)
Today was also moving day for some neighbors of ours. Ruben and I have grown close to them and will miss them, but luckily we will be able to keep in touch since they are not moving far. They are the type of people that you want in your life. Always upbeat and positive! They have a great plan for their life and are moving with excitement for what lies ahead. I wish them all the best!
Anyway, next week is the week! Kids are back in school and our new schedule takes effect. Pray for us that all runs smoothly; but above all that God's will is done because we need his direction! Thank You!

Movies

What is your favorite movie?

Me personally ... I would say the movie The Guardian. However; lately, I have seen some good ones. Ruben and I just watched the Movie The Terminal with Tom Hanks and I really liked it! There were parts that were sad, and parts I couldn't stop laughing! I don't want to ruin the movie if anyone is interested in seeing it, but I thought it was good! I also liked The Holiday with Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, and Kate Windslet. The ending was really good on that one. I watched it twice - but couldn't convince Ruben to watch it a 3rd time. :) I guess it wasn't his cup of tea - but he did like it- at least the first time....;)

Anyway, what movies do you like?

Long time - no post!

Hello!

I took a short break from posting for a few days, but I am back. Today I have been thinking a lot, especially about the topics of "Teaching" and "Lecturing". From my own life experiences I've noticed that these two topics, or experiences can quickly start meshing together. I think as a parent I strive to "Teach" my kids and not lecture, but you know I was really thinking about this today, and honestly who leanrs anything from lectures? Really? Do Adults? I learn more from someone guiding me to the right answer, and explaining the right answer to my questions, or concerns. So when someone is an authority over another wheather it's Teacher to Student, Boss to Employee, or Parent to Child I tuely believe that the only way to help another and propell them into a chosen obedience is to show them and teach them the how's and why's the best we can. I have pourposly applied this today since it is so fresh in my mind. I am going to re-mind myself everyday to choose to Teach, by hanging it on my mirror.

In 2 Timothy 4:2 NLT, It explains..."To Preach the word of God, Be Prepaired, wheather the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching".

Personally, I think that this scripture can be taken a couple of ways like many others like it. I think the power in this piece of scripture is where it makes me think about how I am teaching others around me. I want to patiently correct, rebuke and encourage and not end up discouraging them which can happen with the best intention. I think the key to encouraging and teaching is that the heart needs to be in the right place first, and second to be supper careful with rubuking. In the dictionary Rebuking is discribed as expressing a sharp, stern disaproval of; reprimand. The reason I think this is an area of great causion and that the teaching that had taken place can be lost if the Rebuke is not done correctly. I think there are ways of rebuking or correcting a child, friend, or another person without inflicting blame. I believe there are only a few insodences in which reprimanding is appropraite, but certainly not when someone is asking a question, or needs a friend to talk to. I am going to take advantage of the teachable moments and try my best to answer the how and why's no matter who is asking.

Grace and Peace to you -
Heather
